A.C.Williams History
50+ Years
Strong
The company was formed in 1953 operating from an ex-army
mobile workshop which was along side a mud road which today is the B6403
leading to main roads linking Grantham - Newark - Sleaford - Lincoln.
The business grew and in 1957 took on the Renault
franchise. Realising the potential in the motor trade, the Williams family
built a successful group with dealerships at Ancaster - Grantham -
Sleaford. At one time we also had dealerships in Boston and Stamford.
Our main car sales sites are now Grantham and Sleaford
with Ancaster having the Parts Distribution Operation. We have built up
the parts business to an unrivalled position and now supply the best
bodyshops in the country with a quality service. Our main area is from
Doncaster in the North to the Enfield in the South and from Rugby in the
West to Skegness in the East.
In 2003 the TradeProducts.co.uk website was launched to
provide our customers with information on the then new Ixell Consumables
range supplied by Renault. We now deliver consumables all across the UK
using our own vans and City Link. The website has changed and developed as
have our customers.

Ixell History
|
January 1976: Ixell was launched in France with a range
of ready mixed colours.
1982: Ixell goes international and the first country to
support Ixell was the United Kingdom.
June 1983: Ixell’s first Paint Mixing Scheme Ixell 7000
was launched. Ixell was not happy in producing and supplying
only paint, they wanted to give a complete bodyshops solution.
So Ixell developed a consumables range starting with polyester
fillers, adhesives, and sealers. Abrasives, masking and
windscreen bonding kit’s followed shortly after. This lead
Ixell to offer a comprehensive range, making Ixell the only
multi-specialist Bodyshop supplier in Europe.
1987: Colorixell was launched a new mixing scheme
replacing Ixell 7000. |
1989: The famous “Colour Excellence” is created which
captures Ixell’s commitment to the vehicle refinish market.
1995: Oxelia, the water based paint system is launched
as a response to stricter Environmental legislation -
especially in the UK.
Also Ixell opened a dedicated Technical Centre in Cergy (North
of Paris) to develop new bodyshop solutions and train Ixell’s
Technical Field Force.
1998: The first Ixell smart scale, PilotIxell which
provides colour formulation search and paint management was
developed.
Ixell has grown and now expanding outside Europe with Brazil
first. The following years will see product launches in
Argentina, Turkey and Mexico. |
1999: To share news, experiences and knowledge through
all the countries, Ixell created Colornews the international
magazine for paint professionals.
2002: The latest Ixell product range launched in the
UK: Welding & Panel Fitting products offers a complete repair
solution from bare metal to clearcoat.
The second Ixell Smart Scale, MiniPilot was developed offering
a user friendly solution to colour search and paint mixing.

The Ixell Helpline was first launched to the
network in February 2003 in France. Following extensive research and
analysis of the tools that were available at the time to the dealer
network, a need to develop a service that was dedicated to answering
queries was identified.
This service would be aimed at providing support to the dealer
network exclusively. In France, the Helpline was developed as a
central platform for all Ixell Colour queries to be dealt with on a
more personal level, and, more importantly, in a more rapid and
efficient manner, in order to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
A team of ten helpline agents now responds to technical and
compatibility queries from over 500 main
dealerships, retail and satellite sites and trade customers.
Since the launch in February 2003, the team has received over 45,000
calls in total. |
